Background.
Tropika Malaysian Cuisines is proud to have been serving the Edmonton Fine dining community for the past 5 years. After exploding onto the scene in 1996, Tropika has received rave reviews by mainstream media, food publications and restaurant organizations alike.
Following in the successful formula established by his family, Owner Benjamin Tung, Kiet Wong and "Uncle" Bill Tung created an operation that serves thousands of Albertans every month.
Tropika was first introduced to Canada by the Tung family. Their Vancouver and Burnaby locations are also famous for the same quality ingredients, service and tasty dishes found here in Alberta.
In 2002, Tropika Malaysian Cuisine was pleased to announce the opening of yet another Tropika dining establishment, this one built in Calgary to service the growing demands of Southern Alberta diners.
The Menu.
The Tropika dining experience is unique to Alberta in that it offers the highest quality of Malaysian Cuisine using only the finest authentic ingredients, prepared by qualified professional chefs. The menu features authentic regional Malaysian cooking with an accent on sweet and spicy combinations. The award-winning Sayur Lemak Stew combines rich roasted coconut, and fragrant peanut curry flavors. Chef David Lau's Home Style Malaysian Chicken packs a flavor wallop; it is marinated once, fried twice and always sure to please.
The Satay meat skewers are the most requested item on the Tropika menu. Tender pieces of meat are marinated, placed on skewers, and broiled over an open fire. The heat of the flame sears the meat and makes it tender, while the roasting process seals in all of the wonderful flavors. Choose Chicken, Pork, Lamb or Beef and top them with a special nutty Malaysian curry sauce. Many people enjoy the skewers with the Roti Canai bread on the side, or inside the bread with sauce, pineapple and cucumber.
